Hagersville wins tough contest against Grimsby, 4-3

The game between the Hagersville Hawks and the Grimsby Peach Kings was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Hagersville emerged with a 4-3 win.

The Hawks gained the winning advantage on a goal by Aleck Boyd 18:29 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer.

Boyd had two goals and one assist to lead Hagersville. Boyd scored the first of his two goals at 19:46 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Hagersville. Derek Medeiros picked up the assist. Boyd's next tally made the score 4-3 Hagersville with 1:31 left in the third period. Daniel Medeiros provided the assist.

The Hawks' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Grimsby power plays.

Hagersville also got points from Medeiros, who also tallied one goal and two assists. Hagersville also got a goal from Cole Martin as well.

Grimsby forced Hagersville goalie Matt Murphy to work between the pipes, taking 37 shots.

The Peach Kings were helped by William Demers, who finished with one goal. Demers scored 10:00 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Mathew Paonessa picked up the assist. Jarrod Peacock also scored for Grimsby. Other players who recorded assists for Grimsby were Jordan McCarl and Brennan Smith, who each chipped in one.

The Hawks' Murphy stopped 34 shots out of the 37 that he faced. Hagersville incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors. Mitch Mathieu rejected 24 shots on goal for Grimsby. The Peach Kings incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
