Dundas beats Simcoe 6-4 after comeback scare

The Simcoe Storm tried their best to erase a three-goal deficit, but the Dundas Blues would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 6-4.

A goal by Matt Johnson put Dundas up 6-3 in the third period, but Simcoe pulled to within two on Joel Potruff's tally 17:42 into the third period.

The Blues were led by Garret Incze, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Incze scored 10:08 into the third period to make the score 5-3 Dundas. Jake Milligan picked up the assist.

Dundas racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with six minors and one major for 27 minutes in penalty time. The Blues had been averaging 24.0 minutes in penalties per game. Dundas forced the Storm goalie Jordan Witt to work between the pipes, taking 38 shots. The defensemen of the Blues were also effective in Simcoe's zone, and came away with two goals.

Dundas also got points from Nick McMullen, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Kevin Jaczenko, who also racked up one goal and one assist, and Johnson, who also finished with one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Tyler Jones also scored for Dundas. More assists for Dundas came via Dan Pelosini, who had two and Thomas Dowling and Brayden Knott, who contributed one a piece.

Dundas was unable to stop the Storm from sending pucks towards the net, and Simcoe eventually piled up 35 shots on goal.

The Storm were helped by Jamie Kelly, who registered one goal. Kelly scored on the power play 7:56 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Dundas. Simcoe earned a power play opportunity when Knott was put in the box for head contact. Wade Metz provided the assist. Simcoe additionally got points from Potruff, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Simcoe also got a goal from Dan Stewart as well. In addition, Simcoe received assists from Patrice Fozo, who had one.

Brock Novak recorded 31 saves for the Blues. Dundas registered one goal on four power play opportunities. For the Blues, Alex Aquin was ejected from the game. Jordan Witt made 32 saves for the Storm on 38 shots. Simcoe totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 3-for-7 on the power play. The Storm ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Fozo was ejected from the game.
