Hagersville falls to Grimsby after surprising comeback

The Grimsby Peach Kings climbed out of a two-goal hole to beat the Hagersville Hawks, 3-2.

Grimsby never led in the game until netting the game winner. The Peach Kings trailed 2-0 after a power play goal by Hagersville's Hayden Baird at 10:40 in the second period. Grimsby knotted things up at 2-2 on a power play goal by Jordan McCarl at 8:06 in the third period. The Peach Kings got the game winner at 10:48 in the third period on a goal by McCarl.

Grimsby was led by Curtis Jacques, who registered one goal and one assist.

Andrew Kolodzey also scored for Grimsby. In addition, Grimsby received assists from Jarrod Peacock, Aiden Board, and Jeromy Hopkins, who contributed one a piece.

The Hawks did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Hagersville averages 4.5 goals per game.

The Hawks were helped by Derek Medeiros, who finished with one goal. Medeiros scored 6:45 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Hagersville. Daniel Medeiros provided the assist. Hagersville additionally got points from Baird, who also racked up one goal and one assist. More assists for Hagersville came via Jacob Brown, who had one.

The Peach Kings' Mitch Mathieu stopped 21 shots out of the 23 that he faced. Grimsby incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors. Matt Murphy rejected 27 shots on goal for Hagersville. The Hawks incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
