Grimsby blows out Chippawa, 4-0Niagara Jr. C Head Office Fri, Oct 18, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Grimsby Peach Kings were firing on all cylinders against the Chippawa Riverhawks, and when the final buzzer sounded Peach Kings emerged with a 4-0 win. Grimsby was led by Jordan McCarl, who registered one goal and one assist. McCarl scored on the power play 8:21 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Grimsby. The Peach Kings had gotten the advantage when Chippawa's Josh Gordon was sent off for checking from behind. Jeromy Hopkins assisted on the tally. Grimsby excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. The Peach Kings' defense was surprisingly good. Grimsby averages 2.1 goals allowed per game. The Peach Kings' offense rang up 44 shots on the Riverhawks' net. Grimsby also got points from Mathew Paonessa, who also racked up one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Grimsby also got a goal from Colin Wierts as well. In addition, Grimsby received assists from Aiden Board, Aidan McCreadie, Jeremy Spiece, and William Demers, who contributed one a piece. Chippawa did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Riverhawks average 3.7 goals per game. Grimsby's defense shut down Chippawa's forwards for much of the game, and the Riverhawks got off only 14 shots during the contest. Mitch Mathieu rejected 14 shots on goal for the Peach Kings. Grimsby incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Colin Dunne recorded 40 saves for Chippawa. The Riverhawks incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Team's Dylan Lazarus and Gordon were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
