Glanbrook vanquishes Hagersville in shootout, 8-7 (2-1 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Glanbrook Rangers defeated the Hagersville Hawks in a shootout 8-7 (2-1 SO).

The shootout featured 10 attempts between both teams. Hagersville's shootout goal was scored by Derek Medeiros. Glanbrook's other shootout goal was scored by Cole Anderson.

The Rangers saw a four-goal lead disappear, but was able to secure the win in a shootout. Glanbrook made the score 7-3 on a goal by Brandon Elliot at 18:03 in the second period. The Hawks evened things up at 7-7 on a goal by Derek Friesen at 16:13 in the third period.

Brad Parish had two goals to lead the Rangers to victory. Parish scored at 7:18 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Glanbrook and again while 12:23 into the second to make the score 5-3 Glanbrook.

Glanbrook forced Hawks' goaltenders to work without much rest, launching 35 shots and forcing 27 saves. Tim Porter made 27 stops and Matt Murphy made zero. The Rangers surpassed their usual scoring output this season. Glanbrook averages 4.2 goals per game. The Rangers' penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as Glanbrook finished with 26 penalty minutes.

Glanbrook additionally got points from Kyle Dumais, who also had one goal and one assist, Curtis Edwards, who also tallied one goal and one assist, and Elliot, who also registered one goal and one assist. Glanbrook also got a goal from Drew Jedrzejewicz as well. Other players who recorded assists for Glanbrook were Buddy MacLean, Joel Tivanian, and Derek Vanenberg, who each chipped in one and Nicolas Kuiper and Keifer MacInness, who contributed two a piece.

Hagersville excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. The Hawks' offense rang up 45 shots on the Rangers' net. Hagersville's goal total was higher than its season average. The Hawks have scored at the pace of 3.3 goals per game during the current campaign. Hagersville could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 24 minutes in penalties during the game.

The Hawks were helped by Cole Martin, who finished with one goal and two assists. Martin scored 4:45 into the third period to make the score 7-5 Glanbrook. Brad Hornby provided the assist. Hagersville also got points from Hornby, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Friesen, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Mitch Green, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Aleck Boyd, who also had one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Hayden Baird also scored for Hagersville. In addition, Hagersville received assists from Kyle Phibbs, Zach Maciel, Jacob Brown, and Derek Low, who each chipped in one.

Matt Sagrott made 38 saves for Glanbrook on 45 shots. Hagersville registered one goal on seven power play opportunities.
