Thamesford penalty kill dominates in 6-3 defeat of LambethLambeth Arena Fri, Jan 24, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Lambeth Lancers failed to take advantage of their power play opportunities and the Thamesford Trojans shook off a number of penalties to win, 6-3. Thamesford was sparked by Dakota Hill, who had one goal. Hill scored on the power play 6:13 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Thamesford. The Trojans had taken the advantage when Lambeth's Trevor Daynes got sent off for tripping. Kyle Walker picked up the assist. Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 16:22 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with three game misconducts. Thamesford made Lancers' goaltenders to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, getting 43 shots and forcing 37 saves. JP Trudell made 26 stops and Logan Ferrington made 11. The Trojans' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on seven Lambeth power plays. Others who scored for Thamesford included Adam Levine, who had two and James Toye, Liam Carson, and Stavros Mandrapilias, who each put in one. More assists for Thamesford came via Alex Lumani, Marcus Gverzdys, Liam Billings, and Mitch Davies, who each chipped in one. The the Lancers penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled seven minors and one major for 39 minutes in penalty time. Lambeth had been averaging 24.0 minutes in penalties per game. The Lancers forced Thamesford's goalies to work without much rest, ripping 35 shots and forcing 32 saves. Jake Fonti made 32 stops and Alex Hutcheson made zero. Lambeth's defense let in more goals than it usually has this year. The Lancers give up 2.3 goals per game. The Trojans totaled 21 minutes in penalty time with eight minors and one major and went 2-for-10 on the power play. Team's Brad Chambers and Andrew McLennan were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. Lambeth ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Daynes was ejected from the game.
