Aylmer outlasts Mt.Brydges, 3-2

The Aylmer Spitfires gutted out a close 3-2 win against the Mt.Brydges Bulldogs.

Aylmer gained the winning advantage on a goal by Matthew Reese 1:36 into the second period and hung on until final buzzer.

The Spitfires were paced by Clint Walker, who registered one goal. Walker scored on the power play 3:00 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Aylmer. A cross checking penalty on Robert McTaggart had put Aylmer on the power play. Mitch Roloson provided the assist.

Mt.Brydges was unable to stop the Spitfires from sending pucks towards the net, and Aylmer eventually piled up 34 shots on goal.

Aylmer also got a goal from Brad Payne as well. In addition, Aylmer received assists from Jesiah Sweetland, who had one and Andrew Baxter, who had two.

The Bulldogs were helped by Cole Chilvers, who finished with one goal. Chilvers scored 16:08 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Hayden Trbizan assisted on the tally. Ryan McDonnell also scored for Mt.Brydges. More assists for Mt.Brydges came via Tyler Lockwood, who had one.

The Spitfires' Lucas Easterbrook stopped 23 shots out of the 25 that he faced. Aylmer incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with 11 minors. Dane Gubbels made 31 saves for Mt.Brydges on 34 shots. The Bulldogs incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors.
