Huge game by Walker boosts Thamesford over Lucan, 7-2

Behind a great game by Kyle Walker, who had two goals and one assist, the Thamesford Trojans defeated the Lucan Irish, 7-2.

Walker's tallies came at 3:19 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Thamesford and short handed 13:58 into the second to make the score 5-2 Thamesford.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 6:09 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

Thamesford kept Lucan's goalie busy throughout the game, and Andrew Gantner made 46 saves on 53 shots. The Trojans were held back by their power play unit, which tallied two goals on 12 chances.

Thamesford also got points from Marcus Gverzdys, who also finished with one goal and two assists and Dakota Hill, who also registered one goal and two assists. Thamesford also got a goal from Avery Antone as well. Other players who recorded assists for Thamesford were James Toye and Jake McColl, who each chipped in one and Adam Levine and Fabio Galante, who contributed two a piece.

The Irish racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with six minors and one major for 57 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 24.0 minutes per game Lucan had been spending in the box. The Irish were held below their usual level of production. Lucan averages 4.5 goals per game. The Irish's offense rang up 31 shots on Thamesford's net.

Lucan was helped by Kody Tremblay, who grabbed one goal. Tremblay scored 2:06 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Spenser Talbot provided the assist. Mike Worby also scored for Lucan. More assists for Lucan came via Daniel Cloutier, who had one.

Jake Fonti made 29 saves for the Trojans on 31 shots. Thamesford ended with 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major. The Trojans ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Liam Carson was ejected from the game. The Irish registered zero goals on two power play opportunities. For Lucan, Keiron Cobban and Jordan Vanderwel were ejected from the contest.
