Aylmer squeaks by North Middlesex, 5-3

The game between the Aylmer Spitfires and the North Middlesex Stars was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Aylmer emerged with a 5-3 win.

Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Josh Houston's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker.

The Spitfires were paced by Houston, who tallied one goal. Houston scored 11:31 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Aylmer. Kyle Dedecker picked up the assist.

Aylmer's offense rang up 54 shots on North Middlesex's net.

Aylmer additionally got points from Trevor Stewart, who also had one goal and one assist and Clint Walker, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Aylmer included Cameron Mancini and Jesiah Sweetland, who scored one goal each. More assists for Aylmer came via Matthew Reese, who had two and Cody Underhill, Will Goodhue, and Eric Nemeth, who contributed one a piece.

The Stars stifled the Spitfires' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

North Middlesex was helped by Dylan Carroll, who registered one goal. Carroll scored short handed 17:47 into the second period to make the score 3-1 North Middlesex. A holding call on Scott Boone put the Stars on the penalty kill. Nic Kowaluk assisted on the tally. North Middlesex also had goals scored by Mike Sharpe and Matt Dacosta (APM), who each put in one. In addition, North Middlesex received assists from Josh Bilodeau, who had one.

Dan Black rejected 15 shots on goal for Aylmer. The Spitfires incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Dane Gubbels recorded 49 saves for North Middlesex. The Stars incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors.
