Mt.Brydges rips Exeter, 5-1Tritownship Sat, Dec 14, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Exeter Hawks had trouble finding ways to stop the Mt.Brydges Bulldogs, which beat Hawks, 5-1. Mt.Brydges was led by goalie Andrew Harrimand-Duke, who finished with 30 saves while allowing one goal. Harrimand-Duke managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 3.9 prior to the game. The Bulldogs pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 41 penalty minutes. Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 14:39 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts. Mt.Brydges stifled Exeter's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Bulldogs kept the Hawks' goalie busy throughout the game, and Joe Metzger made 39 saves on 44 shots. Mt.Brydges bested its season scoring average. The Bulldogs average 2.2 goals per game. Mt.Brydges was helped by Tony Lindner, who racked up one goal. Lindner scored 14:21 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Mt.Brydges. Grant Johns assisted on the tally. Mt.Brydges additionally got points from Spencer Wilson, who also registered one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Mt.Brydges included Matt Rinker, Mike Frizzell, and Curtis Taylor, who each put in one. More assists for Mt.Brydges came via Billy Morris, Robert McTaggart, Tyler Lockwood, Cole Chilvers, and Connor Lovie, who contributed one a piece. Exeter forced the Bulldogs goalie Harrimand-Duke to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots. The Hawks were led by Trevor Thornton, who scored the team's only goal. Mt.Brydges registered one goal on two power play opportunities. The Bulldogs ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Frizzell was ejected from the game. Exeter totaled 21 minutes in penalty time with eight minors and one major and went 0-for-8 on the power play. Team's Joe Dykstra and Jesse McIntyre were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
