North Middlesex outlasts Mt.Brydges, 4-2

The North Middlesex Stars and the Mt.Brydges Bulldogs were evenly matched throughout their contest, but North Middlesex made the most of its opportunities and won, 4-2.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Mack O Keefe secured the win for the Stars with a goal in the second period.

North Middlesex got the win behind a great game by Taylor Moir, who had one goal and two assists. Moir scored 10:24 into the first period to make the score 1-0 North Middlesex. Brady Smith (APM) provided the assist.

In the losing effort, Mt.Brydges was led by Grant Johns, who registered two goals. Johns scored the first of his two goals at 16:29 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Tyler Perry picked up the assist. Johns' next tally made the score 2-1 Mt.Brydges with 49 seconds left in the first period. The Bulldogs earned a power play opportunity when Blake Reed was put in the box for roughing. Sean Candler assisted on the tally.

Mt.Brydges was unable to stop the Stars from sending pucks towards the net, and North Middlesex eventually piled up 32 shots on goal. The Stars got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

North Middlesex also got points from Smith (APM), who also tallied one goal and one assist. Mike Sharpe also scored for North Middlesex. In addition, North Middlesex received assists from Matt Dacosta, who had two and Spencer Kading, Kyle Evans, and Nic Kowaluk, who each chipped in one.

The Bulldogs forced North Middlesex goalie Dane Gubbels to work between the pipes, taking 57 shots.

More assists for Mt.Brydges came via Robert McTaggart, who had one.

Gubbels recorded 55 saves for the Stars. North Middlesex incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. For the Stars, Smith (APM) was ejected from the game. Andrew Harrimand-Duke made 28 saves for Mt.Brydges on 31 shots. The Bulldogs incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
