Thamesford blows out Exeter, 5-1

The Thamesford Trojans were firing on all cylinders against the Exeter Hawks, and when the final buzzer sounded Trojans emerged with a 5-1 win.

Thamesford's Jake Fonti was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 31 saves and let only one puck past him. The solid play of Fonti will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 3.15.

The Trojans were paced by Jake Saunders, who tallied one goal. Saunders scored 3:09 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Thamesford. Liam Carson assisted on the tally.

Thamesford put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Exeter to score on any of its four power plays. The Trojans' offense rang up 47 shots on the Hawks' net.

Thamesford additionally got points from James Toye, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Thamesford also had goals scored by Alex Lumani, Dylan Black, and Kurtis Millar, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Thamesford were Andrew McLennan, Stavros Mandrapilias, and Avery Antone, who each chipped in one and Jake McColl and Kyle Walker, who contributed two a piece.

Exeter's offense rang up 32 shots on Thamesford's net.

The Trojans incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Joe Metzger made 42 saves for the Hawks on 47 shots. Exeter incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Hawks ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Jacob MacDougall was ejected from the game.
