Aylmer downs Exeter in overtime, 4-3 (OT)

The Aylmer Spitfires' Eric Nemeth scored 22 seconds into overtime to beat the Exeter Hawks, 4-3 (OT).

Although Aylmer was up by as many as two goals in the third period, Exeter kept the game interesting by staging a comeback that ultimately fell short. The Hawks pulled to within 3-2 on a power play goal by Chiristopher Pfaff at 5:44 in the third period.

The Spitfires were led by Nemeth, who grabbed one goal and one assist.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 3:49 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

Aylmer forced Exeter goalie Joe Metzger to work between the pipes, taking 38 shots.

Aylmer also got points from Trevor Stewart, who also had one goal and one assist. Aylmer also got a goal from Josh Houston as well. Other players who recorded assists for Aylmer were Brad Payne, who had two and Luke Bettencourt and Cody Underhill, who contributed one a piece.

The Hawks' offense rang up 41 shots on the Spitfires' net.

Exeter was led by Tyler McNaughton, who tallied one goal and one assist. McNaughton scored 5:59 into the third period to make the score 3-3. Jesse McIntyre assisted on the tally. Joe Dykstra also scored for Exeter. In addition, Exeter received assists from Cody Kropf and Kalvin Thornton, who each chipped in one.

Dan Black made 38 saves for Aylmer on 41 shots. The Spitfires totaled 23 minutes in penalty time with nine minors and one major and went 2-for-7 on the power play. For Aylmer, Bettencourt was ejected from the game. Metzger rejected 34 shots on goal for the Hawks. Exeter totaled 24 minutes in penalty time with seven minors and two majors and went 2-for-6 on the power play. Team's Brodie Balcom and Brandon Willis were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
