Huge game by McIntyre boosts Port Stanley over North Middlesex, 8-1

The Port Stanley Sailors had a five-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to an 8-1 win over the North Middlesex Stars.

Port Stanley got the win behind a great game by Keaton McIntyre, who had two goals and one assist. McIntyre scored the first of his two goals at 6:32 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Port Stanley. Nicholas Phillips picked up the assist. McIntyre's next tally made the score 7-1 Port Stanley with 19:28 left in the third period. Tyson Corkum provided the assist.

The Sailors excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. Port Stanley's offense rang up 66 shots on North Middlesex's net. The Sailors surpassed their usual scoring output this season. Port Stanley averages 4.4 goals per game.

Port Stanley additionally got points from Zachary Zinga, who also had one goal and one assist, Anders Adzija, who also racked up one goal and one assist, and Tyler Beaulieu, who also registered one goal and one assist. Andrew Yurek also scored for Port Stanley. In addition, Port Stanley received assists from Luke McGuire and Findley Brandon, who contributed one a piece and Tanner Turley and Taylor Schram, who each chipped in two.

The Stars stifled the Sailors' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

North Middlesex was led by Josh Bilodeau, who scored the team's only goal. Bilodeau scored 3:24 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Port Stanley. Brady Smith (APM) picked up the assist.

Port Stanley's Brandon Garner stopped 21 shots out of the 22 that he faced. The Sailors incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Dane Gubbels made 58 saves for the Stars on 66 shots. North Middlesex incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Stars ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Nic Kowaluk was ejected from the game.
