Port Stanley falls to Thamesford in overtime, 6-5 (OT)

Kyle Walker gave the Thamesford Trojans a 6-5 (OT) victory over the Port Stanley Sailors when he scored 2:16 into the extra period.

Thamesford came back from a four-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Trojans trailed 5-1 after a power play goal by Port Stanley's Tyler Beaulieu at 9:32 in the third period. Thamesford knotted things up at 5-5 on a goal by Walker at 18:24 in the third period.

The Trojans forced their penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up eight minors and one major for 51 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 35.0 minutes per game Thamesford had been spending in the box. The Trojans forced the Sailors goalie Brandon Garner to work between the pipes, taking 40 shots.

Thamesford also got points from Adam Levine, who also had one goal and two assists and Justin Cooper, who also registered one goal and one assist. Thamesford also got a goal from Liam Billings as well. In addition, Thamesford received assists from James Toye, who had three and Marcus Gverzdys and Liam Carson, who each chipped in one.

Thamesford was unable to stop Port Stanley from sending pucks towards the net, and the Sailors eventually piled up 44 shots on goal. Port Stanley struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as it finished the game with 40 penalty minutes for eight opposing power plays.

The Sailors were helped by Connor Tamborro, who tallied one goal. Tamborro scored 11:30 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Port Stanley. Anders Adzija picked up the assist. Port Stanley additionally got points from Tyson Corkum, who also registered one goal and one assist, Beaulieu, who also racked up one goal and one assist, and Findley Brandon, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Mark Brisson also scored for Port Stanley.

Alex Hutcheson made 39 saves for the Trojans on 44 shots. For Thamesford, Stavros Mandrapilias was ejected from the game. Port Stanley's Garner stopped 34 shots out of the 40 that he faced. The Sailors registered four goals on 10 power play opportunities.
