Moss' goals lift Lucan to 4-1 victory over Exeter

The Lucan Irish relied on the scoring touch of Dylan Moss, who netted two goals, to beat the Exeter Hawks, 4-1.

Moss scored at 11:47 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Lucan and again while 13:59 into the third to make the score 3-1 Lucan.

Exeter was stymied by Lucan netminder Tyler Beattie, who stopped 44 shots during the victory. Beattie certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 4.23 entering the contest.

The Irish's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Exeter power plays. Lucan forced the Hawks goalie Dylan Hoover to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots.

Zach Beaumont also scored for Lucan. In addition, Lucan received assists from Nik Petrie, who had three and Nathan Marcil, Mitch Smith, Kody Tremblay, and Andrew Purdom, who contributed one a piece.

Exeter's offense rang up 45 shots on the Irish's net.

The Hawks were led by Joe Dykstra, who scored the team's only goal. Dykstra scored 14:25 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Trevor Thornton provided the assist.

Lucan incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors. Exeter's Hoover stopped 30 shots out of the 34 that he faced. The Hawks incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. For Exeter, Brandon Willis was ejected from the game.
