Lucan rolls over North Middlesex, 9-1

The North Middlesex Stars had trouble finding ways to stop the Lucan Irish, which beat Stars, 9-1.

Lucan's Andrew Gantner was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 25 saves and let only one puck past him. Gantner managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 3.98 prior to the game.

The Irish were led by Mathew Smallman, who racked up one goal. Smallman scored 11:53 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Lucan. Tyler Richardson assisted on the tally.

Lucan made North Middlesex's goalies to work without much rest, firing 44 shots and forcing 35 saves. Dane Gubbels made 21 stops and Alex Foster made 14. The Irish stifled the Stars' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Lucan's goal total was higher than its season average. The Irish average 5.0 goals per game.

Lucan additionally got points from Mitch Smith, who also registered one goal and one assist, Daniel Cloutier, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Richardson, who also grabbed two goals and one assist, Zach Beaumont, who also had two goals and one assist, and Andrew Purdom, who also finished with one goal and two assists. Keiron Cobban also scored for Lucan. More assists for Lucan came via Jordan Vanderwel, Ryan Martin, Kody Tremblay, Michael Quinn, Mike Hisey, and Dylan Moss, who contributed one a piece.

North Middlesex also got a goal from Taylor Moir as well. In addition, North Middlesex received assists from Tom Bedour and Brody Faircloth, who each chipped in one.

Lucan incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. North Middlesex incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
