Huge game by Underhill boosts Aylmer over Mt.Brydges, 5-2

The Aylmer Spitfires' Cody Underhill had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing one assist in his team's 5-2 win over the Mt.Brydges Bulldogs.

Underhill's tallies came at 11:01 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Mt.Brydges and short handed 17:46 into the third to make the score 4-2 Aylmer.

Aylmer's penalty kill excelled, as the Spitfires gave up one goal despite allowing 10 power plays.

Aylmer's offense rang up 36 shots on Mt.Brydges' net. The Spitfires were forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as they racked up 32 penalty minutes.

Aylmer also got points from Eric Nemeth, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Trevor Stewart also scored for Aylmer. More assists for Aylmer came via Brad Payne, who had one and Matthew Reese, who had three.

The Bulldogs stifled Aylmer's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Mt.Brydges was helped by Matt Johnson, who grabbed one goal. Johnson scored on the power play 7:02 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Mt.Brydges. The Bulldogs had gotten the advantage when the Spitfires' Luke Bettencourt was sent off for unsportsmanlike conduct. Matt Rinker assisted on the tally. Mt.Brydges also got a goal from Cameron Dewan as well. In addition, Mt.Brydges received assists from Curtis Taylor and Robert Mapes, who contributed one a piece.

Dan Black made 28 saves for Aylmer on 30 shots. The Spitfires registered zero goals on six power play opportunities. Patrick Maziarz rejected 31 shots on goal for Mt.Brydges. The Bulldogs incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors. For Mt.Brydges, Tony Lindner was ejected from the game.
