North Middlesex stifles Aylmer's comeback, gains 6-4 victory

The North Middlesex Stars, who led by three goals at one point, survived a comeback attempt by North Middlesex and clinched a 6-4 victory.

The Stars led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when North Middlesex's Tom Bedour's scored at 2:46 in the third period to put the Stars up 4-1.

North Middlesex was paced by Matt Dacosta, who had one goal. Dacosta scored 17:17 into the third period to make the score 5-4 North Middlesex. Josh DenOtter picked up the assist.

The Stars' offense rang up 40 shots on the Aylmer Spitfires' net. North Middlesex found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. The Stars have scored at the pace of 1.5 goal per game during the current campaign. Team could not crack Aylmer's penalty kill and was held to one power play goal while having 12 opportunities to play with the man advantage.

North Middlesex additionally got points from DenOtter, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. North Middlesex also got a goal from Nolan Vlasman as well. More assists for North Middlesex came via Greg Apps, Mack Graham, Greg Masschelein, and Taylor Moir, who each chipped in one.

The Spitfires kept North Middlesex's goalie busy throughout the game, and Dane Gubbels made 33 saves on 37 shots. Aylmer was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 54 penalty minutes.

The Spitfires were helped by Derek Folkard (APM), who racked up one goal. Folkard (APM) scored 15:02 into the third period to make the score 4-4. Brad Payne assisted on the tally. Aylmer also got points from Clint Walker, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Trevor Stewart also scored for Aylmer. In addition, Aylmer received assists from Josh Houston, who had one.

The Stars incurred 28 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. Dan Black rejected 34 shots on goal for Aylmer. The Spitfires registered two goals on five power play opportunities. Aylmer ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Kyle Dedecker was ejected from the game.
