Port Stanley vanquishes Dorchester in shootout, 5-4 (1-0 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Port Stanley Sailors defeated the Dorchester Dolphins in a shootout 5-4 (1-0 SO).

The shootout lasted for six attempts between the teams.

Port Stanley came back from a one-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Sailors trailed 4-3 after a goal by Dorchester's Connor Lovell at 11:01 in the third period. Port Stanley knotted things up at 4-4 on a goal by Zachary Zinga at 12:58 in the third period.

The Sailors kept the Dolphins' goalie busy throughout the game, and Patrick Maziarz made 34 saves on 39 shots.

Port Stanley also got points from Luke McGuire, who also tallied one goal and one assist. More assists for Port Stanley came via Tyson Corkum, who had two.

Port Stanley was unable to stop Dorchester from sending pucks towards the net, and the Dolphins eventually piled up 42 shots on goal.

Dorchester was helped by Brendon O Shaughnessy, who registered one goal. O Shaughnessy scored 14:56 into the first period to make the score 2-2. Brett Dzyngel picked up the assist. Dorchester additionally got points from Connor McKay, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Jesiah Sweetland, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, Dorchester received assists from Tyler Blue, Cale Duberry, Chad Brulotte, and Bryan McCauley, who contributed one a piece.

Brandon Garner rejected 38 shots on goal for the Sailors. Port Stanley incurred 26 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. The Dolphins incurred 26 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
