Ayr outlasts Woodstock, 4-2

The game between the Ayr Centennials and the Woodstock Navy Vets was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Ayr emerged with a 4-2 win.

The Centennials gained the winning advantage on a goal by Jeff Howlett 17:49 into the second period and hung on until final buzzer.

Anthony Pullia had a great game for Ayr, netting two goals. Pullia scored at 19:55 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Ayr and again while on the power play 18:36 into the third to make the score 4-2 Ayr.

Woodstock was unable to stop the Centennials from sending pucks towards the net, and Ayr eventually piled up 36 shots on goal.

Ayr additionally got points from Howlett, who also registered one goal and one assist. Jake Whibbs also scored for Ayr. More assists for Ayr came via Andrew Richard, who had two and Adam Fisher, Mac Kemp, and Mike McKnight, who each chipped in one.

The Navy Vets were helped by Mike Gillespie, who tallied one goal. Gillespie scored on the power play 14:26 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Ayr. Woodstock had gotten the advantage when the Centennials' Pullia was sent off for charging. Jake Schneider provided the assist. Woodstock also got a goal from Braden Hutchison as well. In addition, Woodstock received assists from Michael Nutt, who had one.

Mitch Figueirdo made 20 saves for Ayr on 22 shots. The Centennials incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. The Navy Vets' Michael Roefs stopped 32 shots out of the 36 that he faced. Woodstock incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
