Norwich rolls over Wellesley, 7-3

The Norwich Merchants were firing on all cylinders against the Wellesley Applejacks, and when the final buzzer sounded Merchants emerged with a 7-3 win.

With three goals and one assist between them, Braeden Shand and Brandon Zimmermann teamed up to power Norwich's offense. Shand finished with two goals and one assist and Zimmermann also added one goal.

The Merchants' offense rang up 42 shots on Wellesley's net. Norwich bested its season scoring average. The Merchants average 4.4 goals per game.

Norwich also got points from Jordan Gillis, who also registered one goal and one assist. Norwich also got a goal from Todd Poirier as well. More assists for Norwich came via Trevor Richardson, who had two, Derek Slaght, who had three, and Nick Burdett and Mitchell Berzins, who each chipped in one.

The Applejacks did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Wellesley averages 5.1 goals per game.

The Applejacks were led by Reid Denstedt, who finished with two goals. Denstedt scored the first of his two goals at 4:46 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Denstedt's next tally made the score 5-3 Norwich with 13:38 left in the second period. Wellesley had gained a power play chance when Jesse Szabo was whistled for hooking. Brett MacDonald also scored for Wellesley. In addition, Wellesley received assists from Felix Lantaigne, who had one.

Patrick Maziarz recorded 23 saves for Norwich. The Merchants incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Brayden Bruce made 35 saves for the Applejacks on 42 shots. Wellesley incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
