Peicheff leads New Hamburg to shutout victory over Paris

Eric Peicheff recorded a shutout against the Paris Mounties as the New Hamburg Firebirds picked up a 7-0 win.

Kyle Mohr was all over the ice for New Hamburg, as he had two goals in the win. Mohr found the back of the net on the power play 3:58 into the second period to make the score 1-0 New Hamburg and again while on the power play 1:01 into the third to make the score 5-0 New Hamburg.

The Firebirds stifled Paris' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. New Hamburg kept the Mounties' goalie busy throughout the game, and Zach Schompe made 28 saves on 35 shots.

New Hamburg additionally got points from Kyle McDonald, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Tyler Hoffman, who also had two goals and one assist, and Carter Tracey, who also registered one goal and one assist. Matt Yantzi also scored for New Hamburg. More assists for New Hamburg came via Brodie Muckler, who had three and Sean Kienapple and Kory Nowak, who contributed one a piece.

The Paris penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled seven minors and one major for 29 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 19.0 minutes per game the Mounties had been spending in the box. Paris could not produce up to it normal offensive output. The Mounties average 4.2 goals per game. Paris' defense let in more goals than it usually has this year. The Mounties give up 2.5 goals per game.

Peicheff rejected 26 shots on goal for the Firebirds. New Hamburg totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 3-for-8 on the power play. The Firebirds ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Tracey was ejected from the game. Paris registered zero goals on five power play opportunities. Team's Jacob Norcott and Brady Wheelans were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
