Paris falls to Ayr in overtime, 5-4 (OT)

Andrew Richard gave the Ayr Centennials a 5-4 (OT) victory over the Paris Mounties when he scored 37 seconds into the extra period.

Ayr got the win behind a great game by Richard, who had two goals and one assist. Richard scored the first of his two goals at 9:11 into the third period to make the score 4-4. Anthony Pullia assisted on the tally. Richard's next tally made the score 5-4 Ayr with 19:23 left in overtime. Pullia picked up the assist.

Paris was unable to stop the Centennials from sending pucks towards the net, and Ayr eventually piled up 46 shots on goal. The Centennials were held back by their power play unit, which tallied two goals on nine chances.

Ayr also got points from Pullia, who also had one goal and two assists and Mike McKnight, who also tallied one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Adam Fisher also scored for Ayr. More assists for Ayr came via Eric Hackborn and Jordan Pettitt, who each chipped in one.

The Mounties' defense was uncharacteristically lax during the game. Paris averages 2.4 goals allowed per game. The Mounties had trouble converting on the power play advantage, managing just two goals on nine chances.

Paris was led by Brady Wheelans, who grabbed two goals. Wheelans scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 16:05 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Paris. The Mounties had gained a power play chance when Logan Beechey was whistled for roughing after whistle. Matthew Small provided the assist. Wheelans' next tally on the power play made the score 4-3 Paris with 6:31 left in the second period. Paris additionally got points from Small, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Paris also got a goal from Graham Kitching as well. In addition, Paris received assists from Ben Holtom, Scott Sippel, and Dylan Cole, who contributed one a piece.

Mitch Figueirdo recorded 17 saves for Ayr. The Centennials incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with 11 minors. Ayr ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Lee Doherty was ejected from the game. Zach Shompe made 41 saves for Paris on 46 shots. The Mounties incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
