Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Norwich Merchants defeated the Woodstock Navy Vets in a shootout 3-2 (1-0 SO).

Norwich kept Woodstock's goalie busy throughout the game, and Michael Roefs made 36 saves on 39 shots.

The Merchants were helped by Drake Morrell, who racked up one goal. Morrell scored 17:08 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Norwich. Taylor Gosset assisted on the tally. Jordan Gillis also scored for Norwich. More assists for Norwich came via Todd Kemp and Trevor Richardson, who each chipped in one.

The Navy Vets put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Norwich to score on any of its six power plays.

Woodstock was helped by Dan Haig, who registered one goal. Haig scored 14:21 into the third period to make the score 2-2. Braden Hutchison provided the assist. Woodstock also got a goal from Nick Zehr as well. In addition, Woodstock received assists from Zackary Housworth (AP), Nathan Innes, and Mike Gillespie, who contributed one a piece.

Patrick Maziarz made 27 saves for the Merchants on 29 shots. Norwich incurred 28 minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Navy Vets incurred 40 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
