New Hamburg rolls over Woodstock, 7-1

The New Hamburg Firebirds were firing on all cylinders against the Woodstock Navy Vets, and when the final buzzer sounded Firebirds emerged with a 7-1 win.

Kory Nowak had two goals to lead New Hamburg to victory. Nowak scored at 10:35 into the first period to make the score 2-0 New Hamburg and again while 18:59 into the third to make the score 7-2 New Hamburg.

The Firebirds kept Woodstock's goalie busy throughout the game, and Michael Roefs made 43 saves on 50 shots.

New Hamburg additionally got points from Quinten Haddock, who also finished with one goal and one assist and David Jennings, who also registered one goal and one assist. Tyler Randerson also scored for New Hamburg. Other players who recorded assists for New Hamburg were Carter Tracey, who had two, Sean Kienapple, who had three, and Anthony Osterling, Brandon Yantzi, Andrew Boer, Garrett Pollock, and Tyler Hoffman, who each chipped in one.

New Hamburg was unable to stop the Navy Vets from sending pucks towards the net, and Woodstock eventually piled up 33 shots on goal.

The Firebirds' Ryan Purcell stopped 32 shots out of the 33 that he faced. New Hamburg incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Navy Vets incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. For Woodstock, Mike Gillespie was ejected from the game.
