Alex Stoody netted a hat trick to lead the Wellesley Applejacks over the New Hamburg Firebirds, 5-3.

Wellesley stifled New Hamburg's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Applejacks' offense rang up 41 shots on the Firebirds' net.

Wellesley also had goals scored by Reid Denstedt and Devon Wagner, who each put in one. More assists for Wellesley came via Jake Ariss, Troy Williams, Luke Rose, and Sean McEwan, who contributed one a piece and Cody Tapsell and Brett MacDonald, who each chipped in two.

New Hamburg was held below its usual level of production. The Firebirds put an average of 5.3 pucks into the net per game. Wellesley was unable to stop New Hamburg from sending pucks towards the net, and the Firebirds eventually piled up 36 shots on goal.

New Hamburg was led by David Jennings, who finished with one goal and one assist. Jennings scored 9:30 into the first period to make the score 1-0 New Hamburg. Brandon Yantzi assisted on the tally. Others who scored for New Hamburg included Matt Yantzi and Quinten Haddock, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for New Hamburg were Tyler Randerson, Anthony Osterling, and Andrew Boer, who contributed one a piece.

Josh Heer recorded 33 saves for the Applejacks. Wellesley incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Firebirds' Ryan Purcell stopped 36 shots out of the 40 that he faced. New Hamburg incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
