Alex Stoody netted a hat trick to lead the Wellesley Applejacks over the New Hamburg Firebirds, 5-3. Stoody got on the scoresheet 5:20 into the second period. He then added goals at 14:42 into the third and at 19:40 into the third.Wellesley stifled New Hamburg's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Applejacks' offense rang up 41 shots on the Firebirds' net. Wellesley also had goals scored by Reid Denstedt and Devon Wagner, who each put in one. More assists for Wellesley came via Jake Ariss, Troy Williams, Luke Rose, and Sean McEwan, who contributed one a piece and Cody Tapsell and Brett MacDonald, who each chipped in two. New Hamburg was held below its usual level of production. The Firebirds put an average of 5.3 pucks into the net per game. Wellesley was unable to stop New Hamburg from sending pucks towards the net, and the Firebirds eventually piled up 36 shots on goal.
