Wellesley blows out Tavistock, 6-1

The Wellesley Applejacks were firing on all cylinders against the Tavistock Braves, and when the final buzzer sounded Applejacks emerged with a 6-1 win.

Tavistock was stymied by Wellesley netminder Josh Heer, who stopped 32 shots during the victory. The solid play of Heer will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 3.05.

The Applejacks were led by Sean McEwan, who racked up one goal. McEwan scored 18:26 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Wellesley. Brett MacDonald assisted on the tally.

Wellesley's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Tavistock power plays. The Braves were unable to stop the Applejacks from sending pucks towards the net, and Wellesley eventually piled up 34 shots on goal.

Wellesley additionally got points from Alex Stoody, who also registered one goal and one assist, Troy Williams, who also had two goals and one assist to lead the team in points, and Reid Denstedt, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Cal Jefferies also scored for Wellesley. Other players who recorded assists for Wellesley were Cody Tapsell, who had one and Taylor Doering, Blake Hetherington, and Luke Rose, who contributed two a piece.

Tavistock's offense rang up 33 shots on the Applejacks' net. The Braves' penalty kill unit could not stop Wellesley's power play, which converted on three of five opportunities.

Tavistock was led by ‌Gingerich Mackeazio, who scored the team's only goal. Mackeazio scored 1:45 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Wellesley. Angus Rowland AP picked up the assist.

The Applejacks ended with 21 minutes in penalty time with eight minors and one major. The Braves' Trevor Bloch stopped 28 shots out of the 34 that he faced. Tavistock ended with 21 minutes in penalty time with eight minors and one major.
