Huge game by Lantaigne boosts Wellesley over Tavistock, 10-1

Behind a great game by Felix Lantaigne, who had two goals and four assists, the Wellesley Applejacks defeated the Tavistock Braves, 10-1.

Lantaigne's tallies came at 10:56 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Wellesley and on the power play 17:23 into the second to make the score 10-1 Wellesley.

Wellesley made Braves' goalies to work in net, racking up 36 shots and forcing 26 saves. Trevor Bloch made 13 stops and Jason Miller made 13. The Applejacks surpassed their usual scoring output this season. This season, Wellesley averages 5.0 goals per contest.

Wellesley also got points from Alex Stoody, who also had three goals and two assists, Troy Williams, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Brett MacDonald, who also had one goal and two assists. Cody Tapsell also scored for Wellesley. In addition, Wellesley received assists from Cal Jefferies, Blake Hetherington, Coleton Madge, Sean McEwan, and Devon Wagner, who each chipped in one and Justin Lebold and Parker Wood, who contributed two a piece.

Tavistock racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with 11 minors and one major for 37 minutes in penalty time. The Braves surpassed its season average of 20.0 penalty minutes per game.

Tavistock was led by Mackenzie Kalbfleisch, who scored the team's only goal. Kalbfleisch scored 14:29 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Wellesley.

The Applejacks' starting goalie, Josh Heer, made 16 saves and finished with the win before he was taken out in favor of Brayden Bruce, who stopped one shot. Wellesley incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Braves registered zero goals on one power play opportunities. For Tavistock, Ryan MacDonnel was ejected from the game.
