Kienapple nets hat trick, leads New Hamburg to 6-3 win over AyrWilmot Recreation Complex Fri, Nov 29, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
A hat trick by Sean Kienapple was the highlight in Firebirds' 6-3 win against the Ayr Centennials. Kienapple notched his first tally 1:41 into the first period. He then added goals at 2:45 into the first and at 3:31 into the first.The New Hamburg Firebirds' penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as New Hamburg finished with 52 penalty minutes. New Hamburg additionally got points from Carter Tracey, who also grabbed one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. New Hamburg also had goals scored by Tyler Randerson and Tyler Hoffman, who each put in one. In addition, New Hamburg received assists from Anthony Osterling, who had two and Connor Voigt, David Jennings, Garrett Pollock, and Taylor Wood, who contributed one a piece. Ayr's defense let in more goals than it usually has this year. The Centennials average 2.3 goals allowed per game. Team could not crack the Firebirds' penalty kill and was held to two power play goals while having 14 opportunities to play with the man advantage. Ayr struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as it finished the game with 46 penalty minutes for eight opposing power plays. The Centennials were helped by Jordan Pettitt, who finished with one goal. Pettitt scored 13:14 into the first period to make the score 4-2 New Hamburg. Jeff Howlett provided the assist. Ayr also got points from Eric Hackborn, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Ayr also got a goal from Adam Fisher as well. More assists for Ayr came via Anthony Pullia, Logan Beechey, and Andrew Richard, who each chipped in one. Eric Peicheff rejected 17 shots on goal for New Hamburg. Ayr's Lee Doherty stopped 22 shots out of the 27 that he faced.
