New Hamburg blows out Tavistock, 6-2Wilmot Recreation Complex Sat, Nov 23, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Tavistock Braves had trouble finding ways to stop the New Hamburg Firebirds, which beat Braves, 6-2. New Hamburg got the win thanks to a great game by Sean Kienapple, who had one goal and three assists. Kienapple scored 2:03 into the first period to make the score 1-0 New Hamburg. Kyle Mohr assisted on the tally. Tavistock's 10 penalties came back to haunt it, as the Braves let up four goals while on the penalty kill. The Firebirds excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. New Hamburg forced Tavistock goalie Trevor Bloch to work between the pipes, taking 47 shots. New Hamburg also got points from Kyle McDonald, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Others who scored for New Hamburg included Anthony Osterling and Carter Tracey, who each put in two. More assists for New Hamburg came via Tyler Hoffman, who had two and David Jennings and Andrew Boer, who contributed one a piece. The Braves kept the Firebirds' goalie busy throughout the game, and Ryan Purcell made 37 saves on 39 shots. Tavistock was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 30 penalty minutes. The Braves were led by Matthew Lupton, who had one goal. Lupton scored 15:55 into the second period to make the score 3-1 New Hamburg. Charlie Irwin picked up the assist. Mackenzie Kalbfleisch also scored for Tavistock. Other players who recorded assists for Tavistock were Jordan Ritsma, who had one. New Hamburg incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Bloch recorded 41 saves for Tavistock.
