Figueirdo leads Ayr to shutout victory over WoodstockWoodstock Community Center Fri, Nov 22, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
Mitch Figueirdo made 27 saves to complete the shutout and led the Ayr Centennials to a 2-0 win against the Woodstock Navy Vets. Ayr was led by Jeff Howlett, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Howlett scored 1:55 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Ayr. Jake Whibbs assisted on the tally. The Centennials' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Woodstock power plays. Ayr was held below its usual level of production. The Centennials put an average of 4.2 pucks into the net per game. Ayr featured an improved defense during the game. The Centennials average 2.1 goals allowed per game. Ayr forced Woodstock goalie Michael Roefs to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots. Adam Fisher also scored for Ayr. In addition, Ayr received assists from Logan Beechey, who had one. The Navy Vets stifled the Centennials' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.
