Smith's hat trick boosts Paris over Woodstock, 9-0

The Woodstock Navy Vets could not stop the Paris Mounties' Brodie Smith, who tallied a hat trick in a 9-0 win.

Smith's first goal came 4:31 into the first period. He then added goals at 12:38 into the second and at 8:41 into the third.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 3:34 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with three game misconducts.

Paris forced Woodstock's goalies to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, racking up 48 shots and forcing 39 saves. Patrick Tanner made 33 stops and Michael Roefs made six. The Mounties stifled the Navy Vets' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Paris featured an improved defense during the game. The Mounties gives up 2.5 goals on average per game. Paris bested its season scoring average. The Mounties average 4.1 goals per game.

Paris additionally got points from Brady Wheelans, who also tallied one goal and three assists, Tye Calder, who also finished with one goal and one assist, and Ian Fowler, who also racked up one goal and five assists to lead the team in points. Paris also got a goal from Richard Brooks as well. In addition, Paris received assists from Matthew Small, who had one and Jacob Norcott and Merrit Crumback, who each chipped in two.

Woodstock's offense operated below it season average. The Navy Vets average 2.7 goals per game.

Andrew Masters rejected 18 shots on goal for Paris. The Mounties totaled 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors and two majors and went 2-for-4 on the power play. For Paris, Hunter Moore was ejected from the game. Woodstock totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 0-for-3 on the power play. The Navy Vets ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Mackenzie Scott was ejected from the game.
