Kienapple lifts New Hamburg over Norwich, 6-3Wilmot Recreation Complex Sat, Nov 09, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
Sean Kienapple was all over the ice for the New Hamburg Firebirds, as he tallied two goals in New Hamburg's 6-3 win over the Norwich Merchants. Kienapple scored at 10:01 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Norwich and again while 17:41 into the third to make the score 5-3 New Hamburg.The Firebirds' offense rang up 37 shots on Norwich's net. New Hamburg also got a goal from Kory Nowak as well. In addition, New Hamburg received assists from Kyle Mohr and Andrew Boer, who each chipped in one and Quinten Haddock, Brandon Yantzi, and Tyler Hoffman, who contributed two a piece. The Merchants forced New Hamburg goalie Eric Peicheff to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots. Norwich gave up more goals than its normal season average. The Merchants give up 2.5 goals per game. Norwich was helped by Josh Herreman, who racked up one goal. Herreman scored on the power play 5:23 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Norwich. The Merchants had gained a power play chance when Boer was whistled for unsportsmanlike conduct. Todd Poirier picked up the assist. Norwich also got points from Kurtis Lavis, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Derek Slaght also scored for Norwich. More assists for Norwich came via Brandon Zimmermann and Drake Morrell, who each chipped in one. Eric Peicheff made 31 saves for the Firebirds on 34 shots. New Hamburg totaled 21 minutes in penalty time with eight minors and one major and went 1-for-3 on the power play. For the Firebirds, Connor Voigt was ejected from the game. Zac Easveld rejected 31 shots on goal for Norwich. The Merchants incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Norwich ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Lavis was ejected from the game.
