Tavistock squeaks by Wellesley, 4-2

The Tavistock Braves and the Wellesley Applejacks were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Tavistock made the most of its opportunities and won, 4-2.

Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Jake Wiffen's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker.

Wiffen had two goals to lead the Braves to victory.

Tavistock kept Wellesley's goalie busy throughout the game, and Josh Heer made 42 saves on 46 shots.

Tavistock also got points from Mackenzie Kalbfleisch, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Tavistock also got a goal from Jordan Felix as well. More assists for Tavistock came via Trevor Bloch, Jeremy Munro, Matt Loader, and Dylan Yantzi, who contributed one a piece.

The Applejacks could not produce up to they normal offensive output. Wellesley puts an average of 4.1 pucks into the net per game. The Applejacks' offense rang up 32 shots on the Braves' net. Wellesley could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 26 minutes in penalties during the game.

The Applejacks were led by Brett MacDonald, who racked up one goal and one assist. MacDonald scored 16:09 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Wellesley. Mckenzie Carter assisted on the tally. Alex Stoody also scored for Wellesley. Other players who recorded assists for Wellesley were Peter Croal and Devon Wagner, who each chipped in one.

Tavistock's Bloch stopped 30 shots out of the 32 that he faced. The Braves incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors. Wellesley registered zero goals on two power play opportunities.
