The New Hamburg Firebirds had a five-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to an 8-3 win over the Wellesley Applejacks. New Hamburg got the win thanks to a great game by Sean Kienapple, who had two goals and two assists. Kienapple scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 8:14 into the second period to make the score 4-1 New Hamburg. The Firebirds had taken the advantage when Wellesley's Felix Lantaigne got sent off for roughing after whistle. Tyler Hoffman picked up the assist. New Hamburg made Applejacks' goaltenders to work in net, getting 40 shots and forcing 32 saves. Josh Heer made 17 stops and Brayden Bruce made 15. The Firebirds outdid their season average for goals scored. New Hamburg has scored at the pace of 5.1 goals per game during the current campaign. New Hamburg additionally got points from Nowak, who also had two goals and one assist and David Jennings, who also finished with two goals and one assist. Tyler Randerson also scored for New Hamburg.
