Early goals doom Burford, falls to New Hamburg, 10-4Wilmot Recreation Complex Fri, Oct 11, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Burford Bulldogs fell behind early, and the New Hamburg Firebirds kept piling on the points on the way to a 10-4 victory. Kyle Mohr was all over the ice for New Hamburg, as he tallied two goals and two assists in the win. Mohr scored the first of his two goals at 5:10 into the first period to make the score 2-0 New Hamburg. Garrett Pollock assisted on the tally. Mohr's next tally made the score 5-1 New Hamburg with 11:51 left in the second period. A holding penalty on Matt Dipaolo had put the Firebirds on the power play. David Jennings picked up the assist. New Hamburg pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 44 penalty minutes. The Firebirds forced Bulldogs' goaltenders to work all game long, taking 48 shots and forcing 38 saves. The Bulldogs found themselves short handed often, totaling 40 penalty minutes and allowing six power plays. Burford was led by Tyler Vandenbussche, who registered two goals and one assist. Vandenbussche scored the first of his two goals at 3:52 into the third period to make the score 7-3 New Hamburg. Chris Grand assisted on the tally. Vandenbussche's next tally made the score 10-4 New Hamburg with 2:43 left in the third period. Peter Janeck picked up the assist.
