New Hamburg wins seesaw game versus Norwich, 8-6Wilmot Recreation Complex Sat, Oct 05, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
In a game that featured four lead changes, the New Hamburg Firebirds had the final say in an 8-6 victory over the Norwich Merchants. Kyle Mohr was all over the ice for New Hamburg, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Mohr scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 12:28 into the third period to make the score 6-5 Norwich. The Firebirds had gotten the advantage when Norwich's Taylor Gosset was sent off for hooking. Carter Tracey assisted on the tally. Mohr's next tally on the power play made the score 7-6 New Hamburg with 4:59 left in the third period. Kory Nowak provided the assist. New Hamburg kept the Merchants' goalie busy throughout the game, and Bryan Paolatto made 30 saves on 38 shots. The Firebirds surpassed their usual scoring output this season. This season, New Hamburg averages 5.4 goals per contest. The Firebirds cashed in on power play opportunities, scoring two goals on three chances. New Hamburg could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 46 minutes in penalties during the game. New Hamburg also got points from Nowak, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. New Hamburg also had goals scored by David Jennings, who had one and Matt Yantzi and Tyler Randerson, who scored two goals each.
