Huge game by Hojbjerg boosts Corpus Christi over Odessa, 4-1Ector County Coliseum Sat, Dec 07, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Corpus Christi IceRays' Martin Hojbjerg had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing two assists in his team's 4-1 win over the Odessa Jackalopes. Hojbjerg's tallies came on the power play at 5:10 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Corpus Christi and on the power play 8:02 into the third to make the score 4-1 Corpus Christi.Corpus Christi's Ben Myers was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 25 saves and let only one puck past him. Myers managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 2.38 prior to the game. Odessa's eight penalties came back to haunt it, as the Jackalopes let up four goals while on the penalty kill. The IceRays excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. Corpus Christi's offense was clicking better than usual and put 33 shots on goal during the game, better than the 24.8 shots per game it averages. Corpus Christi also had goals scored by Jake Durflinger and Brad LeLievre, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Corpus Christi were Kyle Froese, who had two and Grant Hutton, who had three. Odessa put 26 shots on net during the contest, more than the 20.2 it averages per game. The Jackalopes were led by Trace Jablin, who scored the team's only goal. Jablin scored 2:05 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Odessa. Connor Thie picked up the assist. The IceRays incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Yoshihiro Kuroiwa made 29 saves for Odessa on 33 shots. The Jackalopes incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. |
