Lison nets hat trick, leads Lone Star to 4-1 win over Amarillo

Matt Lison netted a hat trick to lead the Lone Star Brahmas over the Amarillo Bulls, 4-1.

Lison's first goal came 18:35 into the second period. He then added goals at 19:20 into the second and at 19:44 into the third.

Lone Star's TJ Black was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 26 saves and let only one puck past him. Black certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.3 entering the contest.

Amarillo was doomed by its poor performance on special teams, as the Brahmas were able to score four times while on the power play.

Lone Star racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with nine minors and one major for 43 minutes in penalty time. The Brahmas had been averaging 25.0 minutes in penalties per game. Lone Star's offense was clicking better than usual and put 24 shots on goal during the game, better than the 16.3 shots per game it averages.

Lone Star also got a goal from Kellen Wasell as well. More assists for Lone Star came via Anthony Mousseau, who had two, Jan Hudecek, who had three, and Conner Enciso, Ben Owen, and Todd Koritzinsky, who each chipped in one.

The the Bulls penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled 10 minors and two majors for 60 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 26.0 minutes per game Amarillo had been spending in the box. The Bulls' offense operated below they season average. Amarillo puts an average of 3.5 pucks into the net per game.

The Bulls were led by Cody Gylling, who scored the team's only goal. Gylling scored on the power play 13:47 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Amarillo earned a power play opportunity when Alexey Solovyev was put in the box for cross checking. Mike Davis assisted on the tally.

Collin Delia recorded 20 saves for the Bulls. Amarillo registered one goal on four power play opportunities. For the Bulls, Joe Grabowski was ejected from the game.
