Wolter nets hat trick, leads Fairbanks to 4-1 win over Kenai River

Colton Wolter netted a hat trick to lead the Fairbanks Ice Dogs over the Kenai River Brown Bears, 4-1.

Wolter notched his first tally 1:26 into the first period. He then added goals at 5:26 into the first and at 19:13 into the third.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 16:02 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

Kenai River was unable to stop Fairbanks from sending pucks towards the net, and the Ice Dogs eventually piled up 32 shots on goal.

Kyle Lee also scored for Fairbanks. In addition, Fairbanks received assists from Wyatt Ege, who had two and Yannick Vedel, Ethan Somoza, Brett Gervais, Tayler Munson, Todd Burgess, and Lonnie Clary, who contributed one a piece.

The Brown Bears were below their usual level of shot production, taking 17 shots compared to the 23.3 Kenai River averages.

The Brown Bears were led by Alec Butcher, who scored the team's only goal.

Kevin Aldridge rejected 16 shots on goal for Fairbanks. The Ice Dogs totaled 26 minutes in penalty time with three minors and two majors and went 1-for-2 on the power play. Fairbanks ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Jacob Hetz was ejected from the game. Zach Quinn recorded 28 saves for Kenai River. The Brown Bears totaled 28 minutes in penalty time with four minors and two majors and went 0-for-1 on the power play. For Kenai River, Eric Purcell was ejected from the game.
