Johnstown holds on for 3-2 win against WenatcheeTown Toyota Center Sun, Dec 01, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Wenatchee Wild tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but the Johnstown Tomahawks held on for a 3-2 victory. Johnstown took a 3-1 lead during the third period, only to have Wenatchee storm back on a Max McLain goal 19:51 into the third period to pull to one goal down. The Tomahawks were sparked by Trevor Recktenwald, who finished with one goal. Recktenwald scored 18:57 into the third period to make the score Johnstown. Johnstown relied on a core group of players for most of its offense, as Tyler Basham, Brandon Reinholz and Mitch Hall took 11 of the team's 20 shots. More assists for Johnstown came via Dakoda Menslage and Josh Bowes, who contributed one a piece. The Wild stifled the Tomahawks' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. By firing 38 shots on goal, Wenatchee exceeded the 29.4 shots it averages per game this year. Parker Tuomie also scored for Wenatchee. In addition, Wenatchee received assists from Gadel Gumerov, Trey Bradley, and Matthew Nuttle, who each chipped in one. Alex Okicki rejected 36 shots on goal for Johnstown. The Tomahawks incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Chase Perry recorded 17 saves for the Wild. Wenatchee incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors.
