Port Huron vanquishes Springfield in shootout, 6-5 (3-2 SO)McMorran Arena - Main Sat, Nov 30, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Port Huron Fighting Falcons defeated the Springfield Jr. Blues in a shootout 6-5 (3-2 SO). The shootout featured 22 attempts between both teams. Springfield's shootout goals were scored by Brendan Jacques and Kyle Shreve. In addition to the clincher, Port Huron got shootout goals from Vito Aluia and Matt Seidel.The Fighting Falcons overcame a four-goal deficit to capture the victory. Port Huron trailed 4-0 after a goal by the Jr. Blues' Joshua Lammon at 8:33 in the first period. The Fighting Falcons tied things up at 5-5 on a goal by Logan Lambdin at 19:04 in the third period. Lambdin had two goals and one assist to lead Port Huron. Lambdin scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 4:31 into the second period to make the score 4-1 Springfield. The Fighting Falcons had gotten the advantage when Springfield's Max Kalter was sent off for interference. Matt Jones assisted on the tally. Lambdin's next tally on the power play made the score with 56 seconds left in the third period. Zach Badalamenti provided the assist. Port Huron outdid its season average for goals scored. The Fighting Falcons have scored at the pace of 3.4 goals per game during the current campaign. Port Huron's offense was helped by the efforts of its defensemen, who managed to put 15 shots on net during the game. The 33 shots that the Fighting Falcons put on net surpassed Port Huron's average of 26.2 shots per game this season. Port Huron also got points from Jonathan Kopacka, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Jones, who also tallied one goal and one assist, and Bryan Yim, who also had one goal and one assist.
