Janesville uses shootout to best Springfield, 3-2 (3-1 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Janesville Jets defeated the Springfield Jr. Blues in a shootout 3-2 (3-1 SO).

The shootout lasted for eight attempts between the teams. Springfield's shootout goal was scored by Cameron Brown. Janesville also got shootout goals from Michael Louria and Jordan Himley.

The Jets were helped by Robin Hoglund, who registered one goal. Hoglund scored on the power play 8:07 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Janesville. Janesville had taken the advantage when the Jr. Blues' Brendan Jacques got sent off for hooking. Tyler Rehm provided the assist. Janesville also got a goal from Louria as well. In addition, Janesville received assists from Himley, Evan Feno, and Zach Avolio, who each chipped in one.

By firing 47 shots on goal, Springfield exceeded the 25.7 shots it averages per game this year.

The Jr. Blues were helped by Max Kalter, who finished with one goal. Kalter scored 1:09 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Janesville. Patrick Curry assisted on the tally. Brown also scored for Springfield. Other players who recorded assists for Springfield were Kevin Shand, who had one.

Logan Halladay rejected 45 shots on goal for the Jets. Janesville incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Stefanos Lekkas made 25 saves for Springfield on 27 shots. The Jr. Blues totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 0-for-2 on the power play.
