Johnstown vanquishes Port Huron in shootout, 3-2 (2-1 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Johnstown Tomahawks defeated the Port Huron Fighting Falcons in a shootout 3-2 (2-1 SO).

The shootout featured nine attempts between both teams. Port Huron got a shootout goal from Nick Horne. In addition to the clincher, Johnstown got a shootout goal from Tyler Basham.

The Tomahawks overcame a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. Johnstown trailed 2-0 after a power play goal by the Fighting Falcons' Mitch Maloney at 15:24 in the second period. The Tomahawks tied things up at 2-2 on a goal by Zack Wallace at 1:32 in the third period.

Johnstown was led by Forest Donovan, who registered one goal. Donovan scored 16:08 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Port Huron. Joe Drabin picked up the assist.

Other players who recorded assists for Johnstown were Mitch Hall, Jordan Watt, and Omar Mullan, who contributed one a piece.

Port Huron put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Tomahawks to score on any of their six power plays. The Fighting Falcons' offense was clicking better than usual and put 33 shots on goal during the game, better than the 26.0 shots per game they average.

More assists for Port Huron came via Bryan Yim, who had one and Jonathan Kopacka, who had two.

Johnstown's Alex Okicki stopped 31 shots out of the 33 that he faced. The Tomahawks incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Max Milosek rejected 22 shots on goal for Port Huron. The Fighting Falcons incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
