McGing leads Coulee Region over Soo, 6-3Omni Center Sat, Nov 23, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Coulee Region Chill's James McGing had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing one assist in his team's 6-3 win over the Soo Eagles. McGing scored at 28 seconds into the second period to make the score 3-1 Coulee Region and again while 5:44 into the third to make the score 5-1 Coulee Region.Coulee Region excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. The Chill's goal total was higher than their season average. Coulee Region has scored at the pace of 3.5 goals per game during the current campaign. By firing 40 shots on goal, the Chill exceeded the 26.4 shots they average per game this year. Coulee Region additionally got points from Ondrej Zehnal, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Coulee Region also had goals scored by Jesse Tredinnick, Blake Kelley, and Cam Bleck, who each put in one. In addition, Coulee Region received assists from Adam Lovick, who had two, Richard Zehnal, who had three, and Dunk Abbott, Brogran Rafferty, and Brett Bukowski, who each chipped in one. Coulee Region was unable to stop Soo from sending pucks towards the net, and the Eagles eventually piled up 38 shots on goal. Soo was led by Bruno Birzitis, who tallied two goals. Birzitis scored the first of his two goals at 14:45 into the third period to make the score 5-2 Coulee Region. Sandis Zolmanis provided the assist. Birzitis' next tally made the score 5-3 Coulee Region with 4:07 left in the third period. Zolmanis picked up the assist. Soo also got a goal from Jacob McDowell as well. Other players who recorded assists for Soo were Brad Pung and Derek Lodermeier, who contributed one a piece. Adam Carlson rejected 35 shots on goal for the Chill. Coulee Region incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. AJ Smith recorded 34 saves for the Eagles. Soo incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
