Topeka rips Odessa, 7-0

The Odessa Jackalopes had trouble finding ways to stop the Topeka RoadRunners, which beat Jackalopes, 7-0.

Odessa was doomed by its poor performance on special teams, as Topeka was able to score four times while on the power play.

The RoadRunners were paced by James Ring, who registered one goal. Ring scored 7:47 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Topeka. Jake Kamrass provided the assist.

Topeka stifled the Jackalopes' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The RoadRunners' defensive effort looked to be improved. Topeka allows 2.3 goals per game. The RoadRunners outdid their season average for goals scored. Topeka averages 3.0 goals per game. The RoadRunners' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals. The 42 shots that Topeka put on net surpassed the RoadRunners' average of 27.7 shots per game this season.

Topeka also got points from Kamrass, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Sly Sutter, who also had one goal and one assist, Tyler Poulsen, who also grabbed one goal and two assists to lead the team in points, Andrew Roye, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Jasen Fernsler, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Topeka also got a goal from Ryan Polin as well. Other players who recorded assists for Topeka were Avni Berisha, Cody Champagne, Peter Halash, and Jerad Tafoya, who contributed one a piece and Mike Gornall and Tomas Nechala, who each chipped in two.

Odessa averages 20.5 shots on goal per game, but only sent 15 pucks on net against Topeka.

The Jackalopes were led by Leo Lumm, who took five shots.

The RoadRunners' PJ Bridges stopped 15 shots out of the 15 that he faced. Topeka incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Yoshihiro Kuroiwa made 35 saves for Odessa on 42 shots. The Jackalopes incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
