Lone Star boosted by Nehama's play in net, beats Wichita Falls 2-1NYTX Arena Sat, Nov 09, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Lone Star Brahmas relied on the sparkling performance of Jacob Nehama in net to grab a 2-1 win against the Wichita Falls Wildcats. Lone Star pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 35 penalty minutes. The Brahmas were led by Donovan Gardiner, who tallied one goal and one assist. Gardiner scored 14:45 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Lone Star. Lone Star's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on eight Wichita Falls power plays. The Brahmas put 17 shots on net during the contest, more than the 12.6 they average per game. Lone Star also got a goal from Kellen Wasell as well. In addition, Lone Star received assists from Ben Owen, who had one. Wichita Falls excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in seven chances. The Wildcats' offense was clicking better than usual and put 37 shots on goal during the game, better than the 27.7 shots per game they average. Wichita Falls was led by Evan Okeley, who scored the team's only goal. Okeley scored 4:29 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Stan Sojka provided the assist. Nehama recorded 36 saves for Lone Star. For the Brahmas, Mitchell Mueller was ejected from the game. David Zevnik rejected 15 shots on goal for the Wildcats. Wichita Falls incurred 30 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors. |
