Tyler Gernhofer gave the Amarillo Bulls a 4-3 (OT) victory over the Corpus Christi IceRays when he scored 4:09 into the extra period. Amarillo almost relinquished a two-score lead. The Bulls made the score 2-0 on a power play goal by Gernhofer at 56 seconds in the third period. Corpus Christi pulled to within 2-1 on a goal by Nick Monfils at 6:05 in the third period. The 43 shots that Amarillo put on net surpassed the Bulls' average of 28.9 shots per game this season. Amarillo also got a goal from Mike Davis as well. In addition, Amarillo received assists from Matt Sieckhaus, who had two and Brett Szajner, Brendan Vetter, Roman Ammirato, Brady Ferguson, and Cody Gylling, who each chipped in one. The IceRays put 24 shots on net during the contest, more than the 21.8 they average per game. Corpus Christi was helped by Brad LeLievre, who registered one goal. LeLievre scored on the power play 10:52 into the third period to make the score 2-2. The IceRays had taken the advantage when Amarillo's Gernhofer got sent off for roughing. Grant Hutton assisted on the tally. Maurin Bouvet also scored for Corpus Christi. More assists for Corpus Christi came via Martin Hojbjerg, who had two and Jake Durflinger and Michael Mahan, who contributed one a piece. Paul Berrafato rejected 21 shots on goal for the Bulls. Amarillo incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Ben Myers recorded 39 saves for Corpus Christi. The IceRays incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. |
