Johnstown holds on for 6-5 win against SpringfieldCambria County War Memorial Sat, Nov 09, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Springfield Jr. Blues tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but the Johnstown Tomahawks held on for a 6-5 victory. A goal by Brandon Reinholz put Johnstown up 6-4 in the third period, but Springfield pulled to within one on Igor Vladykovskii's tally 17:21 into the third period. Reinholz had two goals and one assist to lead the Tomahawks. Reinholz scored the first of his two goals at 13:27 into the third period to make the score 5-4 Johnstown. Brady Bender provided the assist. Reinholz's next tally made the score Johnstown with 3:21 left in the third period. Matthew Meier picked up the assist. With 29 shots on target during the contest, Johnstown exceeded the 21.9 shots it averages per game this year. The Tomahawks found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. This season, Johnstown averages 2.8 goals per contest. The Tomahawks struggled on the penalty kill, allowing the Jr. Blues to score two power play goals on three chances. Mylchreest scored on the power play 2:54 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Springfield. Springfield had taken the advantage when the Tomahawks' Meier got sent off for slashing. Max Kalter assisted on the tally. Springfield also got points from Davis Dekorte, who also finished with one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Mike Severson also scored for Springfield.
